Announcing the 2010 Emerald City Blues Festival, November 12-14 |
|
We're back for the 6th year and we can't wait for you to get here for the awesome weekend of dancing we've got planned. Don’t miss out on the country’s best blues classes taught by the most inspiring and innovative blues dance instructors around. Then when the sun goes down, the incredible vocals of Kim Massie and the inspired depth of the Solomon Douglas Swingtet will bring the best social dancing in the country alive. So what's new this year? - Kim Massie and Solomon Douglas for Two Nights! – That’s right, they’re back this year with some of the best blues music you’ve ever heard. And to make things even cooler, they’re recording a live CD at this year’s ECBF! You can even pre-order the CD and we'll ship it to you as soon as it's complete!
- Friday Classes – We’ve added another day of classes on Friday so you now have three days of classes with the best blues instructors in the country!
- Progressive Track - For the first time ECBF will be offering a Progressive Track, with classes specifically designed to follow each other and build on the material from previous classes. The classes will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, allowing for late-comers to make sure they'll be up to speed. Since the classes do build on each other, we ask that you please remain in the Progressive Track for the duration of the instruction. If you are interested in taking the Progressive Track, please indicate so on your registration form. What makes ECBF's Progressive Track so incredible is that we are offering instruction from some of the most innovative, up and coming dance teachers from across the country. These teachers will be honing their craft in the Instructors Track during the week before the event to make sure that you get the best classes possible. And the best part? These top notch dancers and teachers will be in rotation with each of you to give you individualized instruction throughout the weekend.
- Instructors Track - The instructors track is a week-long intensive workshop for those who wish to take their teaching to the next level. Lead by Barry Douglas and Brenda CK, three days of masters level dance training culminate in a fourth in which you construct the curriculum you will teach to the progressive track. That's right, you'll have an opportunity to teach at the country's premiere blues event. And the couple with the highest performance will be invited back to be headliners for ECBF 2011. - Battle in Seattle – An all new competition format! Come out and represent your city! A hybrid of solo and team performance, this competition is open and requires a team of at least three people and no more than six people (only one team per city). Two teams will face off in competition and trade phrases between solo and partnered dancing, then end in a final phrase that is an all skate. So for example it would go Solo A, Solo B, Partnered A, Partnered B, Solo A, Solo B, Partnered A, Partnered B, All Skate. Sign up will be prior to the event - you'll need to email us - and is limited to 8 cities.
- Registration – We’ve changed the packages available so you can now register for only the latenights if you’re a night owl, only the regular dances if you’re an early bird, and only the workshops if you just want to work on your moves. And the best part? You can register for any combination of the three.
So remember, registration begins this Wednesday, at Noon, Pacific. Get yourself registered and we’ll see you Nov 12-14 in Seattle! |
